Steriods vs Hormones 2008

In last months Steroids Vs Hormones, I asked consumers if they thought President Bushs’ Economic Stimulus plan was a Steroid or Growth Hormone. Initially, August 16th was to be the last day for stimulus checks to be issued. Now that the checks have been issued some analyst have stated the checks did very little to stimulate economic growth. In my particular case, my tax refund check and economic stimulus check both went to the U.S.Department of Education. Thus , in that respect as far economic growth ,no money was put into my pocket. I personally feel that the economic stimulus checks can be compared to a consumer taking prescription medicine that with time consumers will see results.
Mary J Blige: “What’s the 411?”
Abs, thighs, muscular arms, muscular legs, tight buttocks, chest and pecks...daydreaming as young women are inclined to fancy themselves, Steroids, when I think of steroids, I envision a bodybuilder somewhere in ritzy gym preparing for a professional body building competition. Steroids are no longer just a body builder’s drug. I have often associated steroids with body builders, as seen on TV, workout infomercials, the hottest magazines, and the coolest Billboards, the gorgeous guys and girls of the advertising and marketing world. Often, I have been so completely absorbed in their chisled abs and ripped muscles (like a voyeurist to an exhibitionist) to think how did they get those picture perfect bodies, even more so,What are these models doing to stay so healthy and fit?It has rarely crossed my mind that a model is taking steriods, an athlete, maybe,a model,No.Not all athletes or models use steroid. This article is an up close and personal look at steroids; the risk young teens and adults will take to get the look of a Billboard model. What is a steroid? A steroid is a performance enhancer drug used to increase performance. Steroids come in two forms tablets and liquids. Most steroids are not FDA approved, and are banned from professional sports.
NFL, NBA, Tennis, Golf, Pro-Wrestling, Track and Field,Pro Boxing, Martial Arts, Mixed Martial Arts, Professional swim mining , Gymnastics , Professional Cheerleading, and Professional Body building…Not surprisingly, all the above mentioned sports require either all or two more of the following mental acuity, strength, stamina, or endurance. Many athletes in the sports world have resorted to using the illegal drug known as a steroid to obtain these mental and physical attributes. Over the past years, several of our professional athletes have been caught using steroids to increase performance in their sport. Often, professional athletes who use steroids risk their career as well as risk incurring hefty fines. Yet many athletes take the risk. Recently, I read an article in the August edition of Seventeen magazines about a young woman who used steroids in her senior year of high school. The young woman was a gymnast and cheerleader who knew guys that used steroids then tried steroids for herself. The article also discussed the side effects this young women experienced while using steroids such as, hair loss, weight gain, and feelings of suicide. In the article the young women avers ”using steroids almost ruined my life.” After reading the article, I thought to myself why would our young men and women risk their lives using steroids. Apparently, the outer appearance and the results from using steroids for many of these young men and women out weigh the possible side effects. What are the side effects of steroids? The side effects for both men and women are numerous. The side effects that occur from using steroids are the following:
The most frequently reoccurring side effects in men using steroids include but are not limited to the following:reduce sperm count, impotence, increase in nipple and breast size(gynecomastia), enlarged prostate; for women the frequent reoccurring side effects include reduce breast size, increase in facial and body hair, deepened voice, and menstrual problems. In writing this article, I had a special interest because as an infant I was born at a low birth weight and for my age(37) and size (0) I often have been criticized by peers that I need to grow, although, I have never used steroids, nor do I recommend steroids for adolescents, with doctor supervision steroids should not be excluded for promoting growthin adults, risk factors included. Recently, I consider having breast implants, because of the peer pressure, advertising, and marketing. After years of listening to news reports, that yell at Americans thinner is better, blondes have more fun,as dishearten as it may sound, in the advertising and marketing world it gets a resounding,Yes! Steriods or Human Growth Hormone along with breast implants could be very lucrative for business. Thus, one can image the challenges I face when perception is everything not to mention the young girls and women who are less endowed than a music video vixen. In that respect, I understand how a young adolescent may feel,as they encounter peer pressure in high school, when the right pair of jeans, the right purse, the right shoes, the right hairstyle can effect whether you get the guy or the job....not too far fetch from the real world.
The Alternative:Human Growth Hormone
Human growth hormones have become very popular in recent years used by parent as a supplement to help pre teens and adolescents grow. What is the phenomenon behind human growth hormones where a shot could range from $100.00 to $500.00 per visit? Why would parents pay so much money to have their pre-teen growth stimulated?
"Deficiency of GH produces significantly different problems at various ages. In children, growth failure and short stature are the major manifestations of GH deficiency. In adults the effects of deficiency are more subtle, and may include deficiencies of strenght, energy, and bone mass, as well as increased cardiovascular risk."

Presently, in today's medicine there are two types of Human Growth Hormone(HGH).Pituitary derived HGh and biosynthetic HGh also known as recombinant (HGH). Height growth is one the most commonly known postive effects of HGH.Although, HGh has other functions stimulating growth in humans is its best known function.
"Uncle Sam wants you...., The tax man cometh..., Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free..'"
April 15th is the deadline for filing tax returns in the United States. This year American tax payers had an added incentive for filing their tax returns on time, the Stimulus Plan. President Bush implemented the Stimulus Plan this year after the American Economy was heavily hit in Real Estate with numerous foreclosures , mortgage lenders racing against time to help homeowners keep their homes and with the uncertainty for the future of the economy a plan to assist homeowners was welcomed by many. For many homeowners directly feeling the mortgage crisis, the Stimulus Plan was an added relief. However, homeowners were not the only people that qualified to receive Economic Stimulus Checks also retirees, veterans, and disabled americans were included , essentially, all tax payers qualified and needed only to file their regular tax returns. The President initiated the Stimulus Plan to boost the economy. As a part of the Stimulus Plan, tax payers would receive a check from the Internal Revenue Serivce(IRS) ranging from $300-$600 per household based on income. Before receiving checks, the Internal Revenue Service sent out thousands of letters to tax payers informing them about the Economic Stimulus Checks. Shortly after the first letter was sent out to tax payers, the Internal Revenue Service sent out an additional letter informing tax payers when they could expect to receive their checks Tax payers were also given the choice of visiting the (IRS) web site www.irs.gov to check for dates for payment and receive on line
assistance. Although, the initial date for mailing out checks was stalled in May from original dates given to the public, eventually the Stimulus Plan went into effect in May 2008.
